If you are a reader of fantasy novels, you might be familiar with Terry Goodkind and his character, Richard Sypher. Richard is the hero of the Midlands who saves the world from Darken Rahl, a tyrant who would hope to enslave the world to bend to his will.
Richard grew up in Hartland, a wood cutter's son, or so he thought. One day when working in the woods, he sees a beautiful woman being hunted by a quad of soldiers and rescues her. Little did he or she know that she was searching for Richard himself.

This television series takes you through the exciting adventures of the newly named Seeker, Richard. Along with him travels Kahlan Amnell, a Confessor, which is a woman who has the power to bring a person under her control with a mere touch, and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, a Wizard of the First Order. Together they bring justice to the Midlands while fighting Darken Rahl's forces wherever they may encounter them. On occasion they are joined by Chase, a warrior from Richard's hometown.
This show offers something for everyone. Bravery, heroics, magic, sword fights, romance, and a story that offers the traditional morality tale of good versus evil! Not a disappointment.
What is a disappointment, however, is that WOI in Des Moines does not carry this ABC show. As an affiliate's choice show, a show that local affiliates can choose whether or not to air, we are deprived even knowing about this show. I stumbled across it on Hulu and was instantly hooked. If you are interested in watching, you can go to Hulu or the show's website and catch up on all the episodes. The show was also picked up for a second season, so you won't be left wondering what happens to your favorite characters for long!
If you are a fan of the book, please know that this is a very loose interpretation of the books. If you keep that in mind, you can enjoy this show without feeling robbed of your favorite story!

The Seeker series, from gleenings on several sites, absolutely crosses ages from teeny- boppers to retirees. We all can relate: common experiences of love, making life choices, temptations, doing what is "right" dramatized by extremely professional actors (Craig Horner and Bridget Regan) and talented support actors. Craig and Bridget in one episode will go through tense emotional conflicts, overwhelming physical and psychological highs and lows: Destiny, Mirror, Sacrifice, Revenant and Denna to name just a few. Then add to this mix -- MAGIC, mystery, intrigue with the superb evil presence of Lord Rahl (Craig Parker). Legend of the Seeker is the best series in a long time for pure entertainment and enjoyment. Looking forward to season 2 and hope for a well-done season 3 too. Love this "simple" woodsman who is actually very complicated. Horner when interviewed said it was challenge to take Richard, a naive young man, and let the audience see Richard grow into the hero -Seeker-well done
