Would you like to use your kids as an excuse to see the legendary James Earl Jones on stage? This weekend only you will be able to do just that as, Mr. Jones will be narrating a multimedia children's concert for ages 6 to 12, at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, this Saturday, February 28th, at 11:00am, entitled Honest Abe: Four Scores and More. The Little Orchestra Society invites everyone to celebrate the Lincoln Bicentennial with music inspired by Abraham Lincoln, inarguably one of the most important American Presidents of all time.
The program features an interesting combination of media, including huge image projections created by radio personality and concert producer Elliott Forrest, music by Aaron Copland and Morton Gould, and the New York premiere of Peter Schickele’s Lincoln At Ease, as well as works written and performed by violinist Mark O’Connor. For the finale, Mr. O’Connor and the Orchestra will be joined by young violinists from Opus 118 Harlem School of Music. Seeing other children on stage is always so much fun for kids that the finale should prove thrilling for them.
So, at the risk of sounding horribly manipulative, take your children to a wonderful concert that they will enjoy immensely, if only, truly, to see the magnificent James Earl Jones in person and on stage. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone your true motives.
