On the third Friday of every month you can take the kids to visit the South Street Seaport Museum for free during their specially extended hours from 5 to 9pm. They will also offer free programs during 5 to 8pm.
This Friday, May 15th, Museum educators will offer tours of their 18th century ships, their galleries of artifacts, and a behind-the-scenes tour of the "Old Hotel" ($10 charge for that tour), which isn't open to the public yet.
The Museum will also have a scavenger hunt for the kids (although you know you're going to want to join in on the fun). What better way for kids to learn about the time-period represented there at the museum than to look for items from that era. Fun stuff!
South Street Seaport Museum - 12 Fulton Street between Front and South Streets. #212-748-8600. Good for ages 4 and up.
