The 4th of July is a fun-filled day for many families in the Raleigh and Durham area, but there can still be some downtime while waiting for the festivities to begin. Parents can keep kids busy with easy, last-minute Fourth of July crafts.
How to Make a 4th of July Necklace Craft
While moms and dads are getting ready for Independence Day, kids can make a red, white, and blue necklace to wear to 4th of July activities. To make the necklace kids can use washable red, white and blue paint to decorate uncooked rigatoni noodles.
When the paint on the noodles has dried children string them onto a piece of yarn. An adult then uses a double knot to tie the ends of the yarn together.
How to Make a Kids 4th of July Parade Shaker Craft
Fourth of July celebrations are full of noise from the horns at a parade to the boom of the firecrackers. Kids can capitalize on the noisy fun by making their own parade shaker crafts.
To create the 4th of July shakers children need red, white, or blue plastic eggs leftover from Easter. The kids place two spoonfuls of rice or granola in the bottom of the egg. An adult or older child draws a line of glue around the rim of the egg and puts the top on. After the glue has dried kids can decorate the shakers with star stickers.
How to Make a Red, White and Blue Kids Fan Craft
The 4th of July is going to be hot and sunny in the Raleigh area. Kids can make a hand fan craft to cool them off when they are outside. To make the fan the kids cut a large star shape out of a white paper plate. The white star is glued to a red or blue craft stick. Kids then use red and blue stickers, glitter, markers, and crayons to decorate their 4th of July fan.
