In a long-awaited release, FarmVille have finally debuted dogs in their game as of yesterday. These dogs start out as puppies and will eventually grow into adult dogs. Here is a guide to FarmVille dogs!
In the Market, there are currently four dogs available:
Golden Retriever - 65 Farm Cash
Sheep Dog - 65 Farm Cash
Black & White Border Collie - 65 Farm Cash
Brown and White Border Collie - 300,000 coins
If you purchase the coins Border Collie, the next screen will allow you to customize this puppy. While there are three color options, if you choose anything but brown you will be charged 65 Farm Cash. You are given the option to name the puppy if you would like, and choose whether it is male or female. Once you buy the puppy, you are given a popup telling you that your new puppy is hungry and needs to be fed.
Feeding FarmVille dogs
Your new puppy needs to be fed every day for 14 days, which means you're going to need kibble! If you buy the coins dog, you start out with 1 day of kibble. If you buy one of the puppies for 65 Farm Cash, they come with the 2 week supply of Kibble. Kibble can be obtained in two ways - the first is by purchasing it straight from the Market for 5 Farm Cash. The other is by posting to your wall asking for Kibble. If you post to your wall, it allows up to 3 neighbors to give you 1 bag of kibble each, and the wall post lasts for 24 hours. All kibble goes to your gift box.
To feed the puppy, click on it. If it's hungry and you have kibble available you will have the "feed" option available in the menu. You can always view the status of your puppy by hovering your mouse over it and checking the "feed now" timer.
Rescuing your Farmville puppy from the pound
If you fail to feed your dog one time per day for 14 days, it will run away from the pound. If this happens, your only option is to rescue your dog by paying 3 Farm Cash. You will not be able to buy another coins puppy, you are limited to only one. This means that you will be stuck paying Farm Cash if you want to have a dog. To rescue your dog, click the icon in the upper left corner of the screen with a dog behind bars. This will open up the Market and you'll see a "Rescue My Dog" option in the Market on the Pets tab.
Here is where having a Farm Cash puppy comes in handy. Farm Cash puppies will not run away if you don't feed them, and you can buy as many of them as you want.
