In 2010, Team RadioShack will be under the wing of now un-retiree Lance Armstrong as he spearheads the company’s re-branding efforts right to Paris.

On his Livestrong website, Lance states "RadioShack has agreed to partner with us on this venture and ensure that this partnership and this team stays alive for years to come, continues to be at the head of the peloton.”

There were no details on who would be a part of the newly-formed RadioShack team or if long-time coach, Johan Bruyneel would be at the helm. Comments from Garmin managers put most of their riders under contract and from the media circus - it seems more than unlikely that Alberto and Lance will be riding together again. In any event, a new American team as well as a new sponsor of the most-famous bike race in the world is welcomed by participants and fans alike.

Earlier in the year, Astana riders went unpaid for two months and although Lance rode pro-bono, he still joined in on a rider protest at the Giro d'Italia when they wore jerseys with the sponsor's name faded out.

This new partnership brings RadioShack’s 35,000 employees and almost 6,000 store locations on board with Armstrong’s Livestrong efforts as well as his passion for building one of the greatest cycling teams we have yet to see. Armstrong said other sponsors and partners will likely join his new team. “The usual suspects will be Nike, Trek, maybe a couple others we are working on,” he said.
