Learn to swim before summer rolls around again.
Picture this: A child who loves the water, but couldn't swim to save his or her life. How many parents experience this dilemma? More than a few. To top it off, kids who can't swim often grow into adults with a fear of drowning.
In other words, teaching your child to swim at an early age benefits them now and in the future.
Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation offers private swimming lessons all year-round, starting at ages 4 and up.
For one participant, rates start at $25 per session. For semi-private sessions (2-3 participants), sessions are $23 per person. Lessons are thirty minutes in length and you must have a current membership at the time of the lesson. However, membership to your local community center is very affordable. To find one near you, visit the Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation web page.
For more advanced swimmers, competitive swim teams, specialty training, and high school weight training are also available. Specialty training includes training for triathlons, diving lessons, and lifeguarding courses at a slightly higher cost.
For more information about classes or to register, see the aquatics flyer or the fall program guide.
