Cafe 360 up in smoke

  • February 8th, 2010 10:40 pm ET

Okey, its not the most romantic or elegant spot. The decorations are sparse and could have been collected from sales in the nearby church parking lot. The bathroom is decorated by graffiti wallpaper and the grated doors don't close; yet, despite all of this, there is an easy convenience and casual comfort in Cafe 360, on Bardstown Road.

Beyond the sweet smelling smoke curtain of Cafe 360, a spacious, yet intimate hangout is born.  Small booths and circular tables are spread throughout the venue.  With a menu of homemade, fresh, yet inexpensive options, Cafe 360 is just as appealing on a Sunday Funday, as a late night post-bar hop spot.  Offerings such as all-day breakfast, Pita and Hummus, Vegan Tum Yum Long Soup, Classic Reuben, and Fried Chicken and Waffles, are coupled with smoothies, sodas, and a wide international beer selection.  To top it all off, the hookah looms, tempting each diner (of age) with a vast selection such as Vanilla, Melon, Raspberry Lemonade and Skittles tobacco flavors.

Unlike Hookah bars in more competitive cities such as Los Angeles or New York, Cafe 360 in the Louisville Highlands does not spring for extras.  There are no plastic, replaceable mouth pieces for the hose (servers clean the hookahs before arrival at the table), and any leaks are patched with a thoroughly tested home remedy: duct tape.

However, the experience at Cafe 360 keep customers, smoking and non, coming back for more.  And with the option of 24 hours, 7 days a week, the heat is always on.
