Washington DC has several adoption outlets available that help pets in need. MetroPets Online is one such program. MetroPets Online is a unique program in that is uses online technology and links of local shelters and rescue organizations all in one large database, that is open to the public for searching. The website is updated daily with pet information, pet services, and current legislative issues.
MetroPets Online is a non profit organization that seeks to increase the adoption rate, lost animals returned to their homes, and increased awareness to the public on humane issues.
The following is the Mission Statement from MetroPets Online, "MetroPets Online promotes the adoption of homeless animals and the well-being of all animals in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area through the smart use of Internet technology. "
MetroPets Online also receives a variety of pets as does as any rescue or humane organization, and right now they have a host of Katrina rabbits ready for adoption. There are also reptiles, hamsters, and birds and I imagine many other types of pets are posted as well. Below is one of the featured pets in need. The featured pets in need are 7 Katrina bunnies ( 6 male, 1 female).
