Strange News: Ferrari owner assaults Fiat driver with exotic car at track event?

Strange News!

Ferrari owner assaults Fiat driver during exotic car dispute at track event --

[Jan. 4]

Strange news in the exotic car world this week as a Ferrari owner assaulted a Fiat driver with his car. Telegraph UK reports:

The 32 year old driver of the flaming red Ferrari 485 [sp.] worth £166,000 and with a top speed of 200mph repeatedly rammed the small car when his attempts to pass it were frustrated.

The man, who has not been named eventually forced the Fiat 600 worth £7,750 and with a top speed of 93mph onto the hard shoulder, and then he smashed a window and set about beating up the 32-year-old inside.

Motorists on Rome’s ring road called police and a passing off duty officer pulled over to step in calling back up as well as the Ferrari driver’s passenger friend had also joined in the attack.

Officers eventually managed to arrest the Ferrari driver and his friend and today/yesterday they were in custody in Rome’s Regina Coeli prison for assault, criminal damage and resisting arrest.

According to the strange exotic car news report, "both of the arrested men are known to police and a subsequent search of the Ferrari also uncovered 27,500 Euro (£23,600) in cash which officers are trying to establish the origin of."

We figure it was from a betting pool about whether or not the Fiat driver could whip the Ferrari owner in a rematch off track.

EGM Car Tech writes:

We feel the Ferrari owner should stay behind bars for repeatedly ramming a 458 Italia. Shame on him.

Refresher: Power for the Ferrari 458 Italia comes from a mid-rear mounted 4.5L V8 producing 570-hp at 9,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 398 lb-ft at 6,000 rpm. Mated to a dual-clutch 7-speed F1 gearbox, 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.4 seconds with a top speed of over 202 mph.

Those crazy European car guys.

Gotta love 'em.

EDITORIAL NOTE: In case your wondering, we suspect they meant to say 458 Italia in the original article. However, the funny car story has not been confirmed -- and since we can't imagine anyone wanting to bang their car up like this, take the report as urban legend or share verification in the comments section below to let folks know whether or not the vehicular assault really happened.Cheers!

I'm really confused, how could a Fiat 600 stop a monster like a Ferrari 458 Italia from passing it? Honestly, with horse power like that I'm really confused as to what the problem could be.
