The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 supercar, first released back in 2006, has a 630bhp V12 engine.

A joy to drive and a testament to human engineering and mobility, the exotic car can reach speeds up to 220mph at the top end. It also goes from 0 to 60mph in approximately four seconds.

Presumably that is why a groom on his way to marry his bride thought driving his rented Lambo at top speed would be the perfect way to get him to the church on time.

According to AOL news,

A groom headed to the church for his wedding crashed the limited edition Lamborghini his bride rented as a wedding day treat for him.

David Gallucci, 33, lost control of the Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 just an hour before the wedding, crashing it into a fence, flipping 360 in the air and landing in a ditch, a story by the Telegraph said. The $415,000 car was totaled, but Gallucci walked away with just bruising, the story said.

There has been no comment to date regarding the bride's exact reaction to having her soon to be betrothed a bi-ped rather than a motorist after her thoughtfully planned exotic car wedding gift (other than she was really mad), but one thing is for certain:

Wrecking a Lamborghini on the way to get married causing a delay or possible postponement is a great excuse for being late -- and that's no bull.
