Exotic Cars: Ferrari Enzo abandoned in Dubai?

Talk about your hot car story. A lovely Ferrari Enzo was recently abandoned in Dubai, left rotting in the desert heat. The photos of the abandoned vehicle were picked up by Luxury4Play (an automotive website) and subsequently got the attention of the boys of at Top Gear.

The famous Brits had this to say about the travesty that is the abandoned Italian automobile. They write:

We can predict with some authority that the above picture has forced you into a blubbering, moaning, snivelling wreck. It is a picture of a Ferrari Enzo, left to rot in the stifling desert heat of Dubai.

This is sad. So much more sad because apparently, said desert is actually a police impound lot. This Ferrari Enzo has been left to rot in a police impound lot. This is sad.

No more details are available, and we can only hope the Enzo hasn't been left for too long. But as you can see, it's a bit sandy. And did we mention it's quite hot? Cars don't really like sand and heat, much.

If you've spotted any abandoned supercars - or indeed know anything more about this Enzo - send in your pics to editor@topgear.com. We will cry, and then share our misery with you, so that you may cry.

Now go and cry.

If you are not familiar with the car and wonder why this story makes Italian auto enthusiasts cry, here's the real deal behind the story.

The last Ferrari Enzo built was in 2004. Only 400 of the cars were built, and the 400th car was reserved for the Pope. He auctioned the car off for Catholic charity.

Autoguide added to the story, saying the car was found at an impound lot. Let's hope this pseudo barn-find was not the pope-mobile or that its owners were being held by authorities for not making their payments on time due to the global economic crisis.
