I found this easy recipe in an old magazine from the 1940s.  The magazine has long since closed its doors, but since so many of us love chocolate brownies, this recipe should be rescued and not forgotten.  Enjoy!

Chocolate Brownies
2 squares chocolate
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cake flour
1 cup chopped nuts
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter

Melt chocolate and butter over hot water.  Beat egg yolks until light.  Add sugar, salt, chocolate, and butter.  Mix thoroughly.  Sift flour.  Measure.  Add flour and nuts.  Mix thoroughly.  Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.  Pour into shallow, well-oiled pan.  Bake in moderate oven (375 F.) about 15 minutes.  Cut in squares.  Cool.  Remove from pan. 8 servings.
