Based on bona fide results from NielsenSoundScan, the company that tracks retail music sales in the United States and Canada, Billboard Magazine, which uses the service, declared the Jonas Brothers’ newest CD, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, # 1 on their list of the top 200 best selling albums.
The Disney-backed trio, whose clean-cut popularity is a huge hit with tweens, teens and their parents, has proven once again, on this their fourth album; they indeed have the right stuff.
Lines, Vines and Trying Times also shows solid bestselling retail sales figures from Amazon.com where it ranks quite strong in both Rock and Pop categories.
The Jonas previous CD release, A Little Bit Longer, bowed last August before the economic meltdown, with slightly over twice the amount of sales as the current new offering, which is more a reflection of the overall state of the still- struggling economy and not a diminution of group’s devoted following.
Earlier this year, in February, Jonas released the soundtrack of their 3D Concert Experience film.
The movie itself underperformed at the box office, but the music grabbed a number three spot on Billboard’s rankings.
The film version is now poised for release as a special Blu-ray, DVD and movie download, with extra, never-before-seen footage starting June 30, 2009.
Lines, Vines andTrying Times exhibits a further leap in musical maturity for the three brothers, which will keep their legions of fans happy for the next several months, or at least until they can see them in person as they traverse the globe on their World Tour 2009.
Also on Billboard’s top 200 chart and from Disney, dropping only one notch, but continuing to maintain in the top 10, Hannah Montana: the Movie soundtrack, which ranks number one in popularity in Children’s music at Amazon.com.
