Jon and Kate Gosselin divorce papers filed (photo)
Many 'Jon & Kate plus 8' fans were left confused by last night's episode. Jon and Kate Gosselin admitted last night that they are getting separated. A little blip came on the screen saying that papers were filed on June 22nd, 2009 to dissolve their 10-year marriage.
We have proof (see photo) that Kate Gosselin is the one who filled for divorce yesterday. Kate paid $282.50 to file the papers in the Montgomery County, Pennsylvania court. The divorce papers have been sealed from the public for now.
Last night Kate issued a statement that reads, "Over the course of this weekend, Jon's activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children." She adds, "While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children," People has reported.
Jon issued a statement of his own. Jon says, "This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that."
No new episodes of 'Jon & Kate plus 8' until August 3rd?
According to a Los Angeles Times report, TLC said next Monday would be a clip package with some new footage, but that the next all-new episode would be on Aug. 3. People close to the show say the desire to take a production break came from the network.
Taking a break until August may be a smart move. Many Jon and Kate fans are threatening to permanently boycott the show. Perhaps by August America will need a Jon and Kate Gosselin fix.
