The açaí berry is world-renowned for its amazing health properties

We’ve all heard of the so-called “superfood” claims that are out there, but what exactly makes them so “super” for you? Well, the fact is most of these foods and derivative supplements come from mostly naturally-grown fruits and plants that are especially nutrient-dense compared with other foods. They’re power-packed with disease-fighting vitamins, minerals, and other essentials to health that it only makes sense to do what you can to add them to your diet. One such superfood I want to tell you about today is açaí.

No doubt by now you’ve heard about açaí (pronounced “AHH-SIGH-EEE”) on shows like Oprah and in health magazine articles over the past couple of years. It’s still a relatively emerging superfood supplement, but even low-carb anti-aging pioneer Dr. Nicholas Perricone has written quite extensively on the benefits of adding more açaí to your diet. He named açaí as his #1 superfood above all others on a list of other foods you’d easily recognize in his bestselling book The Perricone Promise. Now that’s quite an endorsement!

This “crown jewel” energy fruit from the fertile Amazon rainforest in Brazil has one of the most unique flavors of any berry you’ve ever put in your mouth–it’s like having chocolate and berries mixed together. OOO LA LA! Behind the plump purple pigment of the açaí berry are healthy antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Let’s take a closer look at each of these:

ANTIOXIDANTS
Concentrated antioxidant vitamins which fight free radicals and premature aging are in doses ten times more potent than red grapes and up to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine. Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) is a method used by the USDA of measuring antioxidant capacities of different foods and nothing else comes close to the açaí berry–15 times higher than blueberries and 20 times higher than raspberries! This will help you fight off all kinds of diseases and get energized like you’ve never experienced before.

AMINO ACIDS
A naturally perfect blend of essential amino acid complex along with valuable trace mineral properties that are vital to muscle contraction and regeneration–the perfect companion to your healthy resistance training routine.

ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS
The essential fatty acid content (omega 3,6, and 9) in açaí is similar to olive oil and is rich in oleic acid–which helps omega-3 fish oils penetrate the cell membrane to become more supple and keeps your hormones, neurotransmitter and insulin receptors functioning more efficiently to cut down on inflammation from high-insulin levels. Unlike other berries, açaí has an exceptional content of fats, including the aforementioned oleic acid as well as palmitic acid and linoleic acid. Additionally, there is a high amount of beta-sitosterol in the açaí berries. The positive impact on your heart health from these fats cannot be overstated.

Other known health benefits of adding açaí to your diet include:
- Leads to a healthy immune system
- Effective weight loss aid
- Improves digestion from the fiber content
- Reduces pain and soreness
- Promotes healthy sleep patterns
- Increases energy and stamina
- Enhances your sex life
- Fights cancer and other diseases
- Lowers blood pressure
- Fights aging and inflammation
- Protects against heart disease

In a recent clinical study, just four ounces of a special açaí berry juice blend daily provided the antioxidant equivalent to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. For those people who think you are missing out on your fruits and veggies on your healthy low-carb lifestyle, taking this supplement daily would blow that notion to smithereens! And you can feel confident that you are getting all the nutrition your body needs without all the carbohydrates it doesn’t.

Unfortunately, you can’t just go down to your local supermarket and conveniently pick this stuff up, but there is a very delicious açaí berry juice blend that I’ve personally tried myself and LOVE IT! The taste is so good and it only has 4g carbs per 1-ounce serving. Take 1-2 ounces in the morning and 1-2 ounces and night and you’re good to go. It also comes in a gel option for those who wish to take it with their supplements as an alternative to the juice.

The juice “blend” is made with açaí as well as 18 other fruits including apricot, aronia, acerola, purple grape, passion fruit, camu camu, banana, lychee fruit, nashi pear, kiwi, pomegranate, prune, wolfberry, pear, bilberry, cranberry, blueberry and white grape. This gives you all the nutrition of these fruits without needlessly adding up the carb counts. The incredible synergy between these fruits make this açaí berry juice blend far superior to any singular fruit you could possibly eat.

If you’re ready to take your health to the next level, then consider adding the ultimate “superfood” to your diet with the açaí berry juice blend. I’d love to know what you think about this after you’ve used it for a few weeks. I’ve heard so many incredible health turnaround stories by people who started taking this stuff and I’d love to hear YOUR story, too!
