Rihanna makes pasties trendy by wearing star shaped nipple coverings to celebrate July 4th at Las Vegas.

Rihanna's sparkly star pasties were definitely meant to be seen, even though she would a man's-cut  blazer with padded sleeves, she wore little else to cover her assets.

Pasties were invented by strippers to avoid getting busted by cops in cities where total nudity by strippers is banned. (Which would not include Las Vegas.)

 Bristols6 makes "Nippies" in skin tones to cover up to avoid accidental nip slips.

Will Rihanna wearing pasties launch a "pasties-only" fashion, where more nudity becomes more fashionable? So is Rihanna taking the nudity trend to another level?

Will wearing pasties to clubs catch on? Can nipple tassels be far behind?

With the revival of Burlesque, it's not hard to imagine that Rihanna didn't just launch a new look on Independence Day in Sin City.
