World's Most Expensive Mint Julep

If you have a thousand bucks burning a hole in your pocket and can make it to the Kentucky Derby, May 2, Woodford Reserve would like to make you a drink.

The Woodford Reserve Bourbon world's most expensive Mint Julep will be made from the finest ingredients from around the world.

Mint Juleps are de rigeur for the Kentucky Derby. Authentic Mint Juleps are served in a silver cup. The Woodford Reserve Mint Julep preserves this tradition, but adds some bling by adding a 24 Karat gold plate to the Sterling Silver.

For $1,000 you get to keep the cup made by New England Sterling, the official trophy maker of the Kentucky Derby. The engraved cup is decorated with the silks of Woodford Reserve Stables.

The Woodford Reserve Julep will use Turkish mint grown near the Euphrates River; with hand crushed sugar cane from Sainte Marie in the Reunion Island of France;  ice from an aquifer of Central Norway; and a small batch of the Master Distiller’s personal selection of Woodford Reserve super-premium bourbon.

For your $1000 Woodford Reserve Mint Julep cup you will get an oak box made from the same oak that must be used in Woodford Reserve barrels, lined with black satin, and a sterling silver straw.

Ninety-six cups will be sold via their the Woodford Reserve website, but you need to visit Churchill Downs on Derby Day, to pick up the World's Most Expensive Mint Julep.

A Legends Cups will be also sold at auction to benefit disabled jockeys. These extraordinary cups have three diamonds for each leg of Triple Crown - and each one is in honor of a different living Triple Crown-winning jockey.
