What's with Boston pipelining Pittsburgh's hitters? They stole away Jason Bay and now have officially picked up 1B Adam LaRoche from the Pirates for two mid-level prospects.
All of this coming a night after the Red Sox fell out of first place with a loss to the Texas Ranger, their fourth in a row, while the New York Yankees crept up and grabbed the lead by winning their last five straight.
With the move, the Sox add another bat to the middle of their currently struggling line-up. A lot of talk over the last week or so has been on Roy Halliday and Boston's name has been right in the mix, but it makes much more sense that Boston seek out a bat or two with what seems to be an abundance of good pitching to choose from.
LaRoche this season for the Pirates hit .247 with 12 homers, 40 RBIs and 81 strikeouts in 87 games.
