Live theater heats up the Hamptons

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center in Westhampton Beach and the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor have announced their lineup of live theater performances for the 2009 summer season.

The WHBPAC summer theater performance lineup

WHBPAC will bring in the Grammy Award-winning band Blues Traveler on Friday, June 12, Paula Poundstone on Friday, July 3rd, Rock Icon Joe Cocker on July 5th, Joan Baez on July 26th, the B-52's on August 9th, and rising stars out of the New York City Opera accompanied by Maestro Jerry Streichen will perfom Saturday, August 29th. This is just a sampling of the offerings. Get the brochure by calling 631-288-1500. Tickets range from $65 to $250.

Bay Street Theater summer 2009

The Bay Street Theater will be the venue for the American premiere of Dinner, by Moira Buffini, with Mercedes Ruehl. "A dinner party from hell" is the theme of the show that The Guardian called, "A deliciously bad taste comedy." This show will run July 7th - August 2nd. Bay Street's Comedy Club offerings include: Caroline Rhea on June 8, Louie Anderson on June 15th, David Brenner on July 13th, Robert Klein on August 31st and many others. The Our Town series on 9 Thursdays in Summer at 4:00 pm includes chats with screenwriters, architects, authors and producers who live and work in the Hamptons. Cabaret @ the Bay is on Saturday Evenings year-round at 10:00 p.m. Bay Street also has a film program. Tickets range from $7 to $75, and subscriptions are available.
