Fromm decides to go the "Butler Way"

The Butler Bulldogs have built their program on players from the Hoosier State, and today they added another one to their program. Class of 2010 power forward Erik Fromm (Bloomington, IN) decided to end his recruitment and verbally commit to Butler University.
Fromm was getting attention from around the country including Penn State, Colorado, Oregon State and Xavier. He also had scholarship offers from William & Mary, Wright State, Evansville, Ohio, Rice, IPFW, and Miami-OH.
The 6-foot 9 210 pound junior, from Bloomington South, averaged 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 block per game last season, leading the Panthers to a 26-0 record and the Class 4A State Championship.
“I made my decision this afternoon (5/19) when I visited Butler's campus. I love Butler's campus, academics, and coaching staff. It's close to home but still far enough away,” Fromm said.
What kind of player is Butler getting in Fromm? “My game is a variety. I can shoot 3's in a good percentage, drive, and post. Many coaches tell me I can handle the ball well for my size, so I take pride in that.”
Fromm is the prototype power forward that Butler is looking for. He can stretch the defense away from the basket, but also has a solid post game. However, Fromm thinks there are still a few things that he can work on. “I need to work on jump shots off the dribble,” Fromm said.
One of the key factors in Fromm’s decision was the coaching staff. “I love Coach Stevens and the rest of the coaching staff,” Fromm said. “I really connected with the coaches on a personal level. They show interest in improving me as a person as well as a basketball player.”
The Bulldogs play team basketball on both sides of the ball and Fromm feels as though he will fit in nicely at Butler. “Butler's style of play is a match for my own. I would play the power forward position which is where I am most comfortable,” explained Fromm.
Fromm is the first commitment for the Bulldogs in 2010. Butler currently has 11 players on scholarship for 2010 and has 2 scholarships remaining.
