Stanford continues it’s near daily announcement of verbal commitments for the 2010 football season.

Offensive tackle Dillon Bonnell from Highlands Ranch, Colorado is the latest to tell Coach Jim Harbaugh he will be in Palo Alto in 2010.

The 6-4, 275-pound tackle is a 3-star athlete according to Rivals.com. Scout.com also lists him with 3-stars and ranks him 57th at the tackle position.

Here is the beginning of ESPN’s evaluation of Bonnell’s talent:

“This is a good athletic football player who has the flexibility and footwork to start his collegiate career at the left tackle position. Flashes explosion and must improve his playing strength.”

They go on to speculate that after a red-shirt season they could envision Bonnell being a three-year starter at left tackle.

Coach Harbaugh always announces “good news” on his twitter page. It is illegal to name names of course, but his tweet implying Bonnell was strong.

“I just got a great call for Stanford football, our kind of guy. Tough, smart and loves football.”

Bonnell was offered 17 scholarships and turned down the likes of CAL, Oregon State, Washington, Tennessee and Nebraska to name a few.

Bonnell is the 22nd current commitment for the Cardinal. At this rate you would think Stanford would fill up it’s dance card for 2010 sooner than later.
