TLC welcomes three series designed to help home owners update, renovate, and sell their houses. On June 30, the network
will introduce the new series STAGER INVASION, hosted by professional stager Lisa Lynch, while bringing back two viewer favorites: MOVING UP, hosted by designer Doug Wilson, and REAL ESTATE PROS, featuring real estate expert Richard C. Davis. The latter series premiere their seasons on July 21.
“Whether trying to successfully sell a property or simply make a new house your home, these series reinforce TLC’s commitment to sharing expert advice, practical tips, and relatable stories for today’s viewers,” explains Nancy Daniels, SVP Programming & Development, TLC.
The new series STAGER INVASION kicks off the property programming block starting Tuesday, June 30 at 8 & 8:30 PM. Hosted by professional stager Lisa Lynch, each half-hour episode finds Lisa visiting a house that is on the market by a homeowner with a need to sell, but isn’t getting any interest. Lisa is joined by a staging team to help transform the house – using mostly items already part of the décor – while battling an 8-hour timeline to get it ready for a broker’s open house. Will it sell now that its look has been updated and its appeal has been maximized for the potential buyers?
Home and Living spoke to Lisa just recently:
Q.: Lisa, can you tell Home and Living Readers a little about your background?
A.: I was a real estate agent for about 5 years before I began my home staging business. I loved the process of helping sellers prepare to list their home...so I feel like I was a home stager before I had the official title!
Q.: How did you hook up with TLC, and what was the impetus for the show, Stager Invasion?
A.: I have a neighbor that is an actress. She saw a posting that TLC was holding auditions, looking for home stagers that were running their own business. So she left a note on my door about it. I was submitted for an interview/audition for the job.
TLC created the show based on an idea of how homeowners can stage their property without spending a lot of money. This idea seems especially helpful nowadays, when most people are watching their spending.
Q.: Can you share with Readers what happens in an episode?
A.: In each episode, we help transform a family’s house from design disaster to a hot property. I will tell you that there is almost always some drama, some fun, and some sweat!
Q.: What is your mission with this program?
A.: Have fun doing it and show homeowners by example, ways that they can improve their chances for a fast sale and make their property more desirable.
Q.: Do you ever get emotionally involved with your clients?
A.: Oh yes. Every client has a unique situation. Home ownership always carries a lot of emotions with it because it is usually the biggest financial investment people make. When clients are selling there is always a story. They usually tell me the inside scoop and confide in me on some level, so I always feel involved.
Q.: What is the best project you’ve ever done?
A.: There was a particular property I staged that didn't have much going for it. When I finished the staging the realtor was thrilled and got lots of activity on the home. She told me that I could turn a sow's ear into a silk purse - and I thought that was the best compliment ever!
Q.: How has the television schedule changed your life? Is what’s happening to you what you had expected?
A.: The schedule has changed my life because I am a morning person now! Also I am taking my vitamins more regularly. I am trying not to have any specific expectations. I am usually pretty darn busy so I am focused on doing whatever is the job at hand.
Q.: If you were to only be able to give one piece of advise in regards to staging a home, what would it be?
A.: Clear out extra pieces of furniture in your rooms and pack up what you don't use on a regular basis (especially personal items.) Getting these things out of the house will help you show off your real estate!
