Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Dreamcast cover.

Despite the record-breaking success of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade, Capcom will most likely forego the chance of giving a HD Remix for Street Fighter III.

Chris Svensson, the Corporate Officer and Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development of Capcom commented on the possibility of such a remake on the official Capcom community forum:

“An HD Remix on SF3 would be a challenge in and of itself given the number of frames of animation and effects that would have to be redone, especially in light of what we learned on SSF2THDR. As such, the very nature of the project you're suggesting is somewhat unlikely.”

Even though it became a tremendous success, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was heavily delayed due to the new art assets that needed to be redone for high-definition resolutions. Being a more advance title in terms of graphics and gameplay, Street Fighter III would be even harder to develop for if Capcom decided to give the classic fighting game a high-definition remake.
