Toys are much more than entertainment. They're great learning tools for babies and they're friends who provide comfort. These are some great toys for little ones that will take them from their first days well through their first years. Continue reading about more great toys for tots in part 2.

Twilight Turtle from Cloud B is a must have for every baby's room. It's a soft and lovable nightlight that sprinkles stars on the walls and ceiling in green, blue or amber (your choice depending on baby's mood). This turtle is so friendly and comforting. My daughters have one and love it so much. I'll be buying another one for my new baby's room, as there's no way they'd part with theirs. Cloud B also makes several other night time friends that help with sleeping. Use coupon code exbb-0509 for a 15% discount off your purchase through June 30th.

Dreamies plush dogs are custom made by Bella and Gracies. Sure they're cute and cuddly but they're also relaxing, as they're filled with lavender sachets. They lightly fragrance the air so baby's room smells good and is soothing, promoting sleep.

Soothing Sounds Lullaby Puppy by Russ is sound activated. When baby cries he turns on and plays soothing lullabies as it twinkles soft multi-colored lights. It comes with a Velcro strip to attach it to a crib rail too. Plus he’s really soft and friendly.

Allergen-Free Mickey Mouse and friends plush toys from DisneyStore.com are a must have for families who love Disney. No matter if your child does or doesn't have allergies, this toy is a great bet. Each one is certified asthma & allergy friendly. This is a great first snuggly and is safe for baby to use as a teether toy too.

Soft Blocks by Dwell from CSNbaby.com

help baby learn by doing. They're a great first set of blocks. They have all sorts of textures and colors and rattle when shaken, stimulating learning through several senses at once. They've got a classic, hip look that is great for boys or girls. They come in a great bag for easy storage too.

Zolo-linko by Kushies clip together toys for newborns and up are brightly colored and promotes visual development, tactile stimulation, dexterity and flexible thinking. It can attach at one end to a car seat too. This is practically the ultimate teether toy. Very cool looking to boot. Baby will get lots of use out of this one for quite a while!

Holgate's My First Car is personalizable with all of baby's birth stats and make it a nice keep sake too. Of course, it'll be loads of fun for years to come as baby's first wooden car. They come in white with blue or pink accents. Holgate also makes some great train toys that make great first train sets for little ones by sparking imagination and coordination.

Once baby reaches high chair age, the Munchkin Play n Pat Water Mat high chair mess-free water toy is a must have. This thing is so cool. You fill it with water on the inside and baby "splashes" around moving the toys inside without making any mess. I love this toy. It has stopped by youngest from turning her sippy cups over to make her own water play area on her high chair tray! Once baby can sit up, you can also use this toy on the floor to expand baby's exploring space and enjoyment with this toy.
