McDonald Fast Food Toys / Susan Titus

No, Monsters vs Aliens are not antiques, - yet. But if you have kids or grandkids in the family, this is what they collect. Toys, often the fast food  toys from McDonalds. Help them with their collection or get them started collecting and soon you might have a young companion that helps you look for and enjoys the finer antiques and collectibles. The Monsters vs Aliens movie has just been released and the toys were released at McDonalds on March 27 in the Happy Meals.

Here's my tip for this week. The McDonalds restaurants inside of Super Walmart stores are required to have the whole set available. No more waiting week after week to finish a set. And they will sell you the whole set without buying eight meals worth of food. Since it can take a while for the employees to dig out the toys to complete your set, don't go during the middle of the lunch crowd! This set of eight Monster vs Alien toys was about $14.

UPDATE:

The above article tip on McDonalds caught the attention of the company. A McDonald's spokesman got in touch with me and wanted to know more.

To make it a little more clear,  I was told by a manager that the McDonald Restaurants in Walmarts (in Oklahoma City) receive all the happy meal toys at one time. If there are eight in the series, they get all eight at once. If I want to buy one or two or all of them, they let folks purchase them individually or all at one time. We have done this at three separate restaurants over the last year.

Media Statement from McDonalds, April 3, 2009

At McDonalds, we understand that our customers enjoy their entire Happy Meal experience, from the quality food we offer to the toys we provide.

With more than 85 percent of McDonalds U.S. restaurants owned and operated by independent franchisees, pricing, participation and promotions vary. However, it is not a company policy that McDonalds restaurants make complete Happy Meal toy sets available for advanced purchase.
