Your backstage pass to Paws for a Cause with Cesar Milan
Every pet owner has questions about their pet. Why do they do what they do, and what are they thinking. This especially can hold true for adopted pets. Often times we adopt pets when they are older and don’t always get a 360 degree view of their past. I know when I adopted my dog Remy, I was told he was 100% long haired Chihuahua. Well, since he doesn’t look 100%, I had his DNA tested. While the results were inconclusive they showed trace amounts of Pomeranian and Chesapeake Bay retriever! Needless to say I am unable to attribute his behaviors to a specific breed. So, where does one turn to get the answers they need?
I found a few at the Paws for a Cause event, because the Keynote Speaker was none other that the Dog Whisperer himself, Cesar Milan! (I was one degree of separation from Oprah!!)
Paws for a Cause, was held on Sunday April 19th at the Renaissance Hotel in DC. The event benefited the Koret School of Veterinary Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Barkley Square and Karing by Kristina were on hand to provide a yummy Bark Bar full of treats for all of the four legged guests.
Attendees enjoyed a vendor row where companies featured the latest and greatest in pet treats, clothes and accessories. There was a caricature artist on hand to capture the evening on paper and a doggie psychic to help everyone understand what the dogs were thinking.
After a cocktail reception the guests were welcomed by event chairs Judy and Mark Lerner and ABC 7 News Anchor, Leon Harris served as Master of Ceremonies. After dinner and a live auction (with prizes like a private cooking session in your home by Equinox’s Todd Gray) The Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan gave the evening's Keynote speech.
