New Orleans is one lucky city! Not only does it boast one, but two W Hotels! With a plethora of pet-friendly hotel options in New Orleans though, I was surprised to find that both the W Hotel in the Central Business District and the W Hotel in The French Quarter charge a $100/stay pet fee. The W Hotels chain wide offer a wonderful pet welcome amenity of a food & water bowl, door hanger, paper W Hotels dog tag, and a treat as well as a super pet-friendly staff, but I have to say, I felt a little 'nickeled and dimed'...a $100 pet fee, (the Loews across the street charges a much more affordable $25/stay for their pet fee), $28/day internet, $28/day parking...it all got to be a little much.
One way to mitigate that feeling when you are at one of the W's in New Orleans, choose the city of New Orleans wireless internet connection for $8.95 a day.
With all of the other luxury pet-friendly hotels to chose from in New Orleans, the W Hotel in the Central Business District would not be my first choice, mainly because of the pricey pet-fee. It offers all of the chic W Hotel 'vibe' you expect, and is about a 10 minute walk to the heart of the French Quarter, but I didn't find anything superlative about it other than the friendly staff. I would however happily pay the $100 pet fee at the W Hotel in the French Quarter, because truly, it is one of the only places in the Quarter that will allow large dogs...AND, they have a beautiful, private courtyard where they show free outdoor movies on Sunday nights in June...Beau thoroughly enjoyed his recent viewing of the 80's classic 'Ghost' and I thoroughly enjoyed the Mohito, ambiance, crowd, and inclusive pet-policy!
