In EA Sports NCAA Football 2010, the emphasis is on strategy and providing the most in-depth and realistic college football game. In addition to big, new features like Team Builder and Season Showdown, NCAA Football 2010 introduces strategic playcalling and adds over 1,000 new animations, including over the shoulder catches, gang tackles, QB passes while being hit, dropped passes and WR-DB interactions.
You can even get started creating your own team before the game is released. The TeamBuilder website is live and lets you create your school online.
EA Sports has also improved everything from recruiting to online dynasties, which should make NCAA Football 2010 the best version since the series made the jump to the next-gen consoles.
Strategic Playcalling. This might be the biggest game-changing feature added to NCAA Football 2010. Not only will plays run from a formation set up other plays from the same formation, like the HB Dive setting up the play-action pass, but the computer will be keeping a watchful eye on what plays you run. Call the same play too many times, and it will start predicting it.
Game Planning. Another great introduction to the game that will allow a deeper sense of strategy, game planning allows you to decide how the players will go about their business on the field. Should the line bust open big holes or avoid holding penalties? Should the corners play press coverage or give some cushion? You decide.
Season Showdown. This might be the most creative feature added to any sports title. Season Showdown allows you to contribute to your favorite team by playing offline and online games and racking up in-game achievements. Each time you win, your favorite team gets some points and inches towards the title of Coolest Team Ever. (Okay, maybe that is not an official title.)
TeamBuilder. This long-awaited feature from the last-gen consoles finally makes the jump to the big boys. And not only can you design your own school, but you can do it online and show it off to all your friends.
Head-to-Head Recruiting. Recruiting has a number of neat features added to it, not the least of which is the ability to go up against a rival school and convince a recruit that he doesn't really care about their academic ability. You'll also see new recruits pop up in the offseason that weren't available during the in-season recruiting.

EA Sports has long had the motto of "if it is in the game it is in the game." But let's face it, EA Sports hasn't always put it in the game.
What is clear about NCAA Football 2010 (and Madden 2010) is that the developers really put an emphasis on adding football realism to the game. In the history of football video games, almost every single one fell down in one department: putting the true strategy of football into the game. There is a reason why football has topped every sport as America's favorite -- it's simply the most in-depth sport out there.

NCAA Football 2010 isn't going to blow any socks off in this area, but it is taking a large step in the right direction by adding strategic playcalling, game planning and adaptive AI to the game.
In fact, strategic playcalling and the adaptive AI will have the largest effect on the game since its inception. With strategic playcalling, you can set up plays by calling similar plays in the same formation. So, not only can you set up the play-action pass by running the ball, or set the defense up to be burnt deep. You'll even get in-game indicators of how well you are doing in setting up the defense. But look out, with adaptive AI, the defense will know when you are running certain plays too often and start to predict them.
Game planning is also a nice addition. The original EA Sports Head Coach -- as bad as it was -- had one of the cooler features to be added to any football game: the ability to tell your players to alter their strategy. You could tell them to go into press coverage or to go for interceptions or to bounce the run outside, etc. Game planning adds similar features to NCAA Football 2010, allowing you to have even more control over how your team plays the game.
