The other day, I flipped on the TV and I was treated to one of THE best movies of all time: Footloose. This is Kevin Bacon at his finest. I actually wore a skinny tie today and felt like I was an extra in this monumental piece of movie-making. The final scene is a celebratory treat of embarrassing dancing - and embarrassing fashion. I have never seen so many ruffled tuxedos in one setting. It is quite overwhelming. It's so overwhelming that it almost makes me want to vomit - but in a celebratory way of course. It's actually the first time I am more offended by the men's fashion than the women's in an '80s movie.

Nonetheless, this final scene is a moment of triumph for these small town kids. They can dance without the tyrannical reverend telling them that doing a pop and lock routine is sinful. It is the best scene in the entire movie - besides Kevin Bacon's moving warehouse solo of rage.

I am just so glad they decided not to do a remake of this starring Zac Efron. Classics like this should never be touched.

...and P.S. - Sarah Jessica Parker was absolutely hot in this movie.
