The other day, whilst channel surfing on the waves of 3-month trial premium cable, I got excited to see that the film adaptation of V.C. Andrews's time-honored tale of lovelorn incest, Flowers in the Attic was playing. Back in the day, my sister read these books and she would tell me all about the screwed up things that happened with these crazy characters. Unfortunately, this version of the movie did not deliver - but Kristy Swanson is looking her best in dowdy-chic dresses and the dude who plays her brother looks like Derek Hough from Dancing with the Stars.

I never knew what scared me more in this story: the wretched, cold-hearted grandmother or the fact that they "kept it in the family."
