Dave Shetler as Elwood P. Dowd.
Harvey can be seen clearly in the background.

Harvey, Mary Chase's mystical, heartfelt comedy opens this weekend.  Produced by Nashville's Community Players and hosted by the Cedar Ridge Community of Church, it is this writer's somewhat biased opinion that this will be a great show!

Directed John Carpenter and yours truly, the show is a timeless Pulitzer Prize winning classic about Elwood P. Dowd and his friend Harvey, the invisible six foot tall rabbit. The charming story takes up back to the early forties and a small town out west where Elwood is a constant embarrasment to his sister, Veta and niece, Myrtle.  When he and Harvey interrupt their garden party, the ladies have had enough and decide to commit him permanently to Chumley's Rest Sanitarium.

The play features Nashville actors Dave Shetler as Elwood, Joyce Jeffries as Veta, Jason Sparks as Dr. Chumley and Doug Allen as Judge Omar Gaffney.  The cast has really pulled together some great portrayals, and I feel they've totally captured all the whimsy and wisdom Mary Chase hoped for when she wrote Harvey in 1943.

We all hope you'll come out to see the show, and that you'll love watching it as much as we've enjoyed producing it for you.
