Most people are surprised to find out that the Autobahn actually has "hard" speed limits. These are setup for safety by size and capability of the vehicle types. Slower buses and motorcycles carrying trailers are limited to 60 km/h, while special licensed buses can travel up to 100 km/h! Vehicles that weigh more than 3.5 tons are limited to 80 km/h. Passenger cars with trailers are limited to 100 km/h as well. If your passenger vehicle is equipped with studded tires, your speed is limited by law to 145 km/h!
