The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution properly modified can reach 221.4 mph in the standing mile run but the video below only reaches 220 mph. All-wheel drive and turbocharged, the Mitsubishi EVO 2 is one of the most desired JDM vehicles. This four door sedan with a rich rally heritage can be seen at most street races around the world mopping up the competition. There isn't many vehicles that can out launch the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from a stand still. The typical excuse when racing against an all-wheel drive is to use a rolling start. Rolling start, or stand still these vehicles still are very fast for their small engines.

The following footage of a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II completing the standing mile run at 221.4 mph was recorded on a shut down section of road. Under the proper conditions, this high speed runs are beautiful. Not all controlled environment high speed attempts end successfully. Check out the Nissan 350 Z flipping off road during a high speed attempt! This one is beautiful! Before enjoying the savory footage, check out the specifications of the stock Mitsubishi Lancer EVO!

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II specifications

  • 2.0 DOHC four cylinder
  • 256 hp @ 3000 RPM
  • 228 tq @ 3000 RPM
  • 2756 lb. curb weight
  • Stock top speed: 112 MPH

Obviously the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution II used to reach 200+ mph in the standing mile was not stock. The only thing left stock about this car is probably the chassis. Typical Lancer upgrades include larger turbo, fuel system, custom exhaust, high flow intake, hardened & light weight drive train components, and ECU tuning. Major weight reductions are also needed even though in stock form the car only weighs 2756 lbs! Extremely light weight, agile, and capable; Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution!
