What happened to the Chrysler ME four twelve? This ultimate super car built by Chrysler featuring a mid-engine quad turbo V12 disappeared into concept purgatory. Only to be driven by a few elite CEO's at car shows, the Chrysler ME four-twelve never made it to production. But why? The concept was so powerful that Mercedes-Benz pulled the plug because the SLR division was complaining. It is unknown what the actual complaints were, but I would guess they didn't want Chrysler to build a faster vehicle than the majority shareholder Mercedes-Benz. Lost in concept purgatory, the ME four-twelve still has a chance.

Now that Mercedes-Benz no longer owns Chrysler and sold it to Fiat, there is a chance we might actually see the ME four-twelve make it to production. Originally designed in less than one year from start to finish by Brian Nielander and Mark Walters, the ME four-twelve features a 6.0 liter V12 engine cranking out enough power to run with the likes of Bugatti Veyron, Saleen S1, and Koenigsigg CCX. Check out the specs below:

Chrysler ME four-twelve specifications:

  • 6.0 liter V12 quad turbo
  • 852 horsepower @ 500 RPM
  • 850 foot pounds of torque @ 100 RPM
  • Top speed of 220 mph
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Seven speed sequential automatic
  • 2800 lb. curb weight
  • Price: $400,000 to $600,000 USD

According the these specifications above, this thing would have killed the McLaren SLR. With literal on demand power, 850 foot pounds of torque at 100 RPM can literally rip apart any competition. A great design with an almost lag free boost, the Chrysler ME four-twelve is one concept vehicle that should be produced. It appeared in several video games such as Test Drive Unlimited, and Forza 2 but never actually made it to production. Enjoy the following footage of this super car stuck in concept purgatory, because it is probably all we will get to see of this beautiful beast. "Make sure it's in neutral please..."
