Gene Hackman will be featured on the Turner Movie Classics (TCM) Summer Under the Stars on Friday, August 21, 2009. Hackman is a versatile and respected actor with a productive career that has spanned over five decades/ Hackman excels at playing regular guys caught in extraordinary circumstances. The films featured on TCM include Mad Dog Coll, The Split, Bite the Bullet, Marooned,  I Never Sang for My Father,  Another Woman,  Lilith, Bonnie and Clyde, The Conversation,  Mississippi Burning and A Bridge Too Far.

Mad Dog Coll at 6:00 am

Mad Dog Coll, 1961, is the story of an aspiring actor in New York City. The cast includes Kay Doubleday, Brooke Hayward, John Davis Chandler, Neil Nephew, Jerry Orbach, Telly Savalas, Joy Harmon, Ron Weyand, Peggy Feury, Vincent Gardenia, Gilbert Leigh and Stephanie King. Gene Hackman had a small walk on role.

The Split at 7:30 AM

The Split, 1968, was based on the book, The Seventh, by Richard Stark. The cast includes Jim Brown, Diahann Carroll, Ernest Borgnine, Julie Harris, Gene Hackman, Jack Klugman, Warren Oates, James Whitmore, Donald Sutherland, Joyce Jameson, Harry Hickox, Jackie Joseph and Warren Vanders.

Bite the Bullet at 9:30 AM

Bite the Bullet, 1975, is set at the turn of the century, when the Old West was vanishing and the automobile was being introduced to the culture. The cast includes Gene Hackman, Candice Bergen, James Coburn, Ben Johnson, Ian Bannen, Jan-Michael Vincent, Dabney Colman and Sally Kirkland.

Marooned at 12:00 PM

Marooned, 1969, is a space story with a cast that includes Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, David Janssen, James Franciscus, Gene Hackman and Lee Grant.

I Never Sang for My Father at 2:30 PM

I Never Sang for My Father, 1970, is the story of a middle aged man and his relationship with his elderly parents. The film received Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Douglas), Best Supporting Actor (Hackman) and Adapted Screenplay (Anderson).  The cast includes Melvyn Douglas, Gene Hackman, Dorothy Stickney, Estelle Parsons, Elizabeth Hubbard and Lovelady Powell.

Another Woman at 4:30 PM

Another Woman, 1988, is a Woody Allen film with a cast that includes Gena Rowlands, Mia Farrow, Ian Holm, Blythe Danner, Gene Hackman, Martha Plimpton, John Houseman, Sandy Dennis, Betty Buckley, David Ogden Stiers, Philip Bosco and Harris Yulin.

Lilith at 6:00 PM

Lilith, 1964, is a Robert Rossens film with a cast including Warren Beatty, Jean Seberg, Peter Fonda, Kim Hunter, Jessica alter and Gene Hackman.

Bonnie and Clyde at 8:00 PM

Bonnie and Clyde, 1967, is a film about the real life bank robbers of the Depression era. The cast includes Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman, Estelle Parsons, Denver Pyle, Dub Taylor, Evans Evans and Gene Wilder. Bonnie and Clyde a Dramatic Gangster Film

The Conversation at 10:00 PM

The Conversation, 1974, is a Francis Ford Coppola mystery thriller about privacy. The cast includes Gene Hackman, John Cazale, Allen Garfield, Frederic Forrest, Cindy Williams, Michael Higgins, Robert Duvall, Teri Garr and Elizabeth MacRae.

Mississippi Burning at 12:00 AM

Mississippi Burning is a film about FBI agents investigating the murders of civil rights workers in the South. The cast includes Gene Hackman, Willem Dafoe, Frances McDormand, Brad Dourif, R. Lee Erney, Gailard Sartain, Stephen Tobolowsky, Michael Rooker and Pruitt Taylor Vince.

A Bridge Too Far at 2:30 AM

A Bridge Too Far, 1977, is a film by Richard Attenborough about World War II. The cast includes Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Edward Fox, Elliott Gould, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, Laurence Olivier, Ryan O’Neal, Robert Redford, Maximilian Schell and Liv Ullmann.
