Sandra Lee makes dessert for patriotic holidays

 Desserts are the crown jewel of summer parties, barbecues and picnics. The sweet treats for a summertime meal need to taste delicious and stand up well. Chef Sandra Lee of The Food Network, has directions for a Red, White and Blue Trifle on the Food Network website. The Red, White and Blue Trifle is a great dessert for any occasion, but is especially good for the Sandra Lee Red, White and Blue Trifle courtesy of Food Networkpatriotic holidays, such as Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Sandra Lee of the Food Network Show Sandra Lee's Money Saving Meals recently took part in a conference call in which she shared some of her ideas for a delicious money saving meal for Fourth of July. Sandra stated that she loves Fourth of July as a holiday because her birthday is on the third of July, so it is a wonderful time to party.

Sandra Lee said that she loves desserts, so it is no surprise that she would have a great looking and easy to prepare dessert idea. Sandra Lees gives instructions on how to make a red white and blue trifle in this video
 

The trifle is composed of chocolate cake, whipped topping and blueberries. She also added strawberries as trim, which is a terrific touch when berries are in season.

According to the video, the base was made of a chocolate cake mix with red food coloring added to give the cake a rich, red color. The cake as cut up into pieces and put in the bottom of the compote bowl. She then topped the cake pieces with a generous portion of whipped topping. On top of the whipped topping she places handfuls of blueberries. She repeated the entire process of layers and added strawberries on the very top.

The Red, White and Blue Trifle is a smart looking dessert for patriotic holidays, such as Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day, The delicious dessert is also wonderful for birthdays and any other type of party.

Sandra Lee's Money Saving Meals airs on Food Network on Sundays at 12 pm ET / 11 Central  (noon) and Mondays at 2 pm ET/ 1 pm Central.
