Xanax is a drug used to treat a variety of disorders such as anxiety and panic attacks. Alprazolam is a controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act by the Drug Enforcement Administration. It carries the dangers of serious side effects, withdraw and addiction.

Does this sound like an easy solution?
In a controlled clinical trial in which 63 patients were randomized to Xanax and where withdrawal symptoms were specifically sought, the following were identified as symptoms of withdrawal: heightened sensory perception, impaired concentration, dysosmia, clouded sensorium, paresthesias, muscle cramps, muscle twitch, diarrhea, blurred vision, appetite decrease, weight loss, anxiety and insomnia.” -RX List
Getting to the source rather than masking it with drugs:
People are not born with anxiety or panic disorders; it is a symptom of changes in your life. It can be debilitating, not only preventing you from enjoying life, but keeping you from working, going outside, being in public, however, drugs are not the answer; drugs do not solve what brought you to that point in the first place. It is critical to analyze your lifestyle, changes leading up to the anxiety or panic attacks and focus on a positive path to get you back to your life.
There are several options to help you in the meantime which are not addictive, not a drug and work naturally with your body:
Holy Basil: Holy Basil promotes a positive stress response and elevates the spirit, it is also an anti-infammatory. I use New Chapter’s Supercritical Holy Basil: http://www.newchapter.com/products/sc-holy-basil
Stress Support: 4 way stress support helps imbalances that cause us to experience extreme reactions to stressful events. Pure Essence Labs: http://www.pureessencelabs.com/natural_stress_relief.html
Dietary changes: Holistic medicine teaches us that when our organs (liver, gallbladder, kidneys)  become overwhelmed with poor diet and toxins our bodies become ill, stressed and do not function properly. Positive dietary changes can positively change how your mind and body handle stress.
I will delve deeper into natural stress, anxiety and panic remedies in upcoming articles. Please subscribe to be notified of new articles.
There is help, there is hope, and it does not exist in prescription drugs.
We are strong, we can overcome anything.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and you should not suddenly stop taking any medication, it is important to talk with your doctor about your concerns and be ‘weaned’ off drugs safely.
