Littleton director Gerald (Jerry) Schell was arrested in a sting set up by the Parker Police Department. He was allegedly chatting on line with what he thought was an underage girl for months, attempting to set up a meeting with her. He was, in fact, speaking with the Parker Police Department.
Schell has been active with the Main Street Players for years, as well as other theatre companies around town. His most recent production was Kiss Me Kate, which just closed a last month. I had interviewed Schell recently regarding his work with his new company, MSI Theatre and their show "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown" which was part of my Acts and Answered Series.
The reaction from the theatre community is one of shock. In every theatre in town you will find teens and children. Most theatres even have summer and youth programs specifically for kids. I know, having worked with several youth programs, that these are wonderful and supportive environments for the kids. I just hope that this arrest does not put a bad mark on youth theatre programs.
