A Cinco de Mayo favorite! This ultra-smooth guacamole is made chunky with onions, celery, cucumber and tomatoes. Add mayo and Italian dressing to make a pourable homemade guacamole salad dressing!

How To Tell if an Avocado is Ripe

A ripe avocado makes all the difference between fair guacamole and GREAT guacamole! Most avocados are sold rock-hard and need a few days to ripen. The avocado is ripe when it is just soft enough to give way with gentle pressure, but not too soft that it is squishy and your fingers go through it. There is such a thing as a too-ripe avocado. Check the California Avocado Commission for more avocado tips.

Cinco de Mayo Guacamole Recipe

  •  2 large ripe avocados, peeled and seeded
  •  1 Tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos, soy sauce or tamari
  •  1 to 2 Tablespoons Mrs Dash or McCormick's Garlic & Herb" seasoning
  •  1/4 cup onions, finely chopped
  •  1/4 cup celery, finely chopped
  •  1/4 cup cucumber, peeled and chopped
  •  1 cup fleshy tomatoes like Roma, coarsely chopped
  •  1 Tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  •  1/2 cup mayo, optional
  •  1/4 cup favorite Italian or Sweet & Sour dressing, optional

How To Make Guacamole

  • Blend avocados, Bragg's or soy sauce and Mrs Dash in high-speed blender until creamy.
  • Gently fold in onions, celery, cucmber, tomatoes and cilantro.
  • Serve with tortilla chips or alongside a veggie platter. Cover tightly and refrigerate any leftovers.

Guacamole Dressing Variation:

  •  Add mayo and dressing to make this guacamole pourable for a delicious salad dressing.
