Peninsula Community College soccer in Port Angeles hosted a youth contest between the traveling Alaska Northstars and local players wearing not only the uniforms but also carrying the banner of the Kitsap Soccer Club Pumas on Monday July 27th.
The Alaskans came away with a 2-0 victory.
The First goal was scored in the 76th minute off a header on the back post from a cross. The second Alaska goal was scored in the 83rd minute from a PK, after a tackle in the box.
Andrew Chapman, head coach of Peninsula College's Men's soccer program, talked about the match. "It was a great game to watch. Both teams played very well. The Northstar team traveled with 26 players and were able to play a completely fresh team in the second half which proved to be the difference. This was a fantastic thing to have happen here on the PC campus. Some of these players next year will be wearing the Black and Gold PC colors. We got to see some very talented players and many showed some good interest in our program." Chapman is also an assistant coach with the Pumas.
The KSC Pro Youth have been gathered from around West Sound and have been practicing with the adult PDL Kitsap Pumas in recent weeks.
