boston breakers kozue ando shinobu ohno wps international discovery

This week, Boston Breakers placed international discovery claims on Kozue Ando and Shinobu Ohno, two Japanese national team goal scorers.

Last year the Breakers held Ohno's rights, but the striker was apprehensive about the big jump to the United States and the Breakers later relinquished those rights. Ohno has reconsidered and if both are signed as anticipated within the next two weeks, the two Japanese forwards could make a big impact in the Breakers' scoring statistics.

WPS teams are allowed five international players and to hold the rights of a sixth. Ando and Ohno would make the fifth and sixth, but the Breakers are actively seeking a green card for Canadian standout Christine Latham. The other three internationals are Kelly Smith and Alex Scott of England and Fabiana of Brazil. Fabiana is a free agent but expected to return for the 2010 season.
