A new Boost Mobile ad featuring IndyCar sexpot Danica Patrick has upset some transgender activists because of its use of cross-dressing actors.
In the ad, Patrick is shown pulling up to a pit stop, where her car is serviced by a crew of men wearing high heels, miniskirts and bright orange tops.
Patrick says, "What, you think this is wrong?" and then talks about how wrong it is to pay too much for phone service. A voice-over then says, "Boost Mobile - unwronged."
Trans Universe said
"The commercial just looks plain dumb on the visual level, but it also uses men in women’s clothes in a negative context. Trans people who saw this commercial went ballistic. Even though the commercial does not specifically make fun of trans people, out of the 300 million Americans, many will use this as another excuse to discriminate and hold back equality for Transgender Americans."
However, not everyone in the LGBT community finds the ad offensive. Outsports.com points out that "Danica's entire career and persona has been built on bending gender stereotypes in a male-dominated sport."
Take a look at the ad and decide for yourself:
I don't know about you, but I find the flabby man boobs more offensive than the heels and miniskirts.
