Soulforce has issued a national call for civil disobedience following the ruling. Soulforce is collaborating with individual organizers and groups, including Join the Impact. The call to action reads:
We are tired of defeat, token change, defending ourselves against charges of moral inferiority, and being told to “wait” in the land we love while liberation occurs in other countries. Martin Luther King, Jr. acknowledged that real change takes time; yet he also warned against the “tranquilizing drug of gradualism” and instructed the oppressed to demand equality now – not on the convenient time schedule of those doing the oppressing. The nonviolent legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Audre Lorde, Barbara Deming, Bayard Rustin, Cesar Chavez, Dolores Huerta, Oscar Romero and countless others is deeply rooted in United States and world history. It continues to play a vital role in undermining the power of repressive political regimes.

On Wednesday, May 27th, a demonstration is planned during President Obama's appearance at a Democractic fundraiser in California, calling on him to honor his promises to LGBT people. Mr. Obama has already broken two major campaign promises to the LGBT community - repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT).
The Facebook page for the demonstration is here. The group organizing the event says, "We are calling for full equality now - full and equal protection under the law for LGBT people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states."
If you are in LA on Wednesday, please consider joining the demonstration. It is planned for 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Beverly Hills Hilton, 9876 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly HIlls.
