All across the country this coming Wednesday, people will be celebrating the April 15 Tax Freedom Day; the day when Americans have made enough money to stop paying the government, and start working for themselves.
This year however will be a bigger celebration than ever before. This year Tax Freedom Day will bring with it a tax revolution the likes of which our forefathers in Boston harbor could never have imagined.
Every state in the Union, including Hawaii and Alaska, will have at least one - in many cases several - tax revolt tea parties.
Even so-called blue states - those that trend toward the Democrats - have multitudes of parties planned in peaceful revolt against the Obama administrations massive bailout and multi-trillion dollar budget. For example, the state of California alone has 58 scheduled so far, including in the ultra-liberal seat of Nancy Pelosi: San Francisco.
New York State has 27 scheduled, in Albany, New York City, Long Island and more.
The tea parties are billed as a pan-partisan outpouring of displeasure at the out of control tax-and-spend policies that have come into effect in the past year, both under President Obama and his predecessor President Bush.
While based on American lore of our forefathers tossing their tea into Boston Harbor in protest over the British Tea Tax, the current tea parties were called for earier this year by CNBC's Rick Santelli. In an on-air rant, Santelli called for a "Chicago Tea Party" to protest massive government spending. Previous tea parties were held in more than 40 cities across the country on February 27th.
