Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine mode of healing that uses thin needles inserted into precise points on the body. According to the World Health Organization studies have shown Acupuncture is an effective treatment for:

  • Adverse reactions to radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy
  • Allergic rhinitis (including hay fever)
  • Headache
  • Knee pain
  • Low back pain
  • Morning sickness
  • Neck pain
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Sciatica
  • Tennis elbow

In a private Acupuncture appointment the patient gets very individualized care and will spend anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes of a session with his Acupuncturist in the room.

Group Acupuncture, or Community Style Acupuncture, allows one or more practitioners to treat a room of patients at once. This in turn cuts down on the operating costs and allows the practitioners to pass on the savings to the patients. Sliding scale Community Style Acupuncture can run from $15-40 a session, with the initial session having a higher fee for the health intake portion.

Here in Boston there are several options for Group Acupuncture such as:

  • Pathways to Wellness - 1601 Washington Street, 3rd Floor, Boston, MA, phone: 617-859-3036 - this non-profit specializes in working with fertility, offering free acupuncture care to persons living with HIV/AIDS, cancer care and stop smoking programs.
  • Acupuncture for Everyone - Copley Square, phone: 617-875-1143 - offers a sliding scale system of $15-35, with a $10 extra fee for the first treatment.
