Bradley Lockhart, father of 5-year-old murder victim, Shaniya Davis, appeared on Nancy Grace's television program Monday night to talk about the death of his daughter, the kindness of strangers, and what he intends to do to stop child trafficking.
Lockhart spoke in hushed tones about his daughter. He described some of his favorite moments were when he would sit in his recliner and watch television and his daughter would crawl up in his lap. He also remembered his daughter as a "tomboy" who liked to ride her scooter, a "typical little girl" who loved playing dress-up and with Barbies, and as someone who was "not welcoming to men."
Grace asked the grieving father about possible punishment for accused killer, Mario McNeill. The tight-lipped father merely responded that he has "Faith in the Lord" but "limited faith in the justice system." He would not give his opinion on the death penalty for McNeill.
Grace also quizzed Lockhart about his thoughts on his former girlfriend and Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, and how she gave their daughter out "for sex." Lockhart did not answer the question as to whether Davis should be charged with murder under the felony murder rule.
Lockhart did speak about NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal who paid for Shaniya's funeral. He said O'Neal "extended" an offer to pay for the services and that he called Lockhart on Thanksgiving Day to offer his condolences.
Finally, Lockhart spoke about SCT, or Stop Child Trafficking Now, an organization that he supports whose goal is to put an end to human trafficking, especially that of children. Lockhart said it was "unbelievable" how many children are sold into prostitution in the United States.
