Moms are the fastest growing segment of new business owners in America and over 10 million businesses are owned by women, according to the Center for Women’s Business Research.

The winners of the first StartupNation’s Leading Moms in Business Competition, have been announced.  Thousands entered  the contest, sponsored by VerticleResponse. Shining the spotlight on these fabulous entrepreneurs With over 620,000 votes, the winners of these mom-run businesses were voted on by America.   The Top 200 were selected from the actual numbers of votes received.  Many of the women who made the list cater to and provide solutions for other women.

The Top 10:

1. Fabulously 40 and Beyond – Yana Berlin launched this social networking website for women over 40, in 2006. Today, thousands of women from all over the world connect and share their struggles, hopes and dreams in this online community.

4. Your Blessed Events - Two busy moms, Pamela and Colleen, actually met at their kid’s bus stop. The women, a Christian Gift Store owner and an event planner, put their heads together and launched Your Blessed Events in 2007. Whether you are having a baby shower, birthday party or baptismal celebration, Your Blessed Events adds a personal touch that will make your event super special. The site offers a wide variety of outfits, gifts and party favors.
5. Posh Pads LLC - Moms Robyn and Jessica launched their business in 2008. The busy ladies have two have 12 children between them! Posh Pads are fun and fashionable nursing pads that are also eco-friendly. “Mother’s by design and designers by trade” the two created these organic nursing pads in a variety of colors and designs
