In this series, I'm interviewing business men and women in the Denver area for their perceptions on the economy and karma. Harusami of Soul2Soul with Harusami & Friends responds:

What does karma have to do with the recession… if at all? Please explain.

I think Michael Bernard Beckwith explained this "recession" best in the film "Spiritual Liberation," in that the "failure" of the stock market and banks isn't necessarily a bad thing. So if car manufacturers fail for not creating cars that are more enviromentally friendly, and more people are walking and riding bikes...is it a bad thing? If more people lead healthy lives, eat healthy, exercise, meditate...well, the pharmacutical companies would certainly suffer.

Our global consciousness is changing and evolving.

More people are concerned with sustainability, buying locally, supporting independent retailers and manufacturers. Our old ways and the greedy corporations are transforming...dying in a sense. Granted, there are a lot of hard-working people who are being challenged with losing their jobs and even their homes...karma is not a punishment, karma is a lesson, and when we are in the midst of a karmic lesson, most of us can only see the suffering.

The enlightenment comes later when we realize how much we've learned.

The enlightenment comes later when we realize how much we've learned, grown and evolved thru that painful period. And I do speak from personal experience having lost a job and a home during the recession of the 1980s. Life does get better!

I just read this morning in the paper, that seed companies are experiencing a 40% rise in sales and profit. People are turning to growing their own food, cooking meals at home, canning and preserving their harvests. Now the folks who teach gardening, cooking and canning are experiencing a boom in business!

Families are spending more time together, at home, learning to live simpler and healthier.

While the builders of those ridiculously oversized new homes are failing at alarming rates...contractors, home repair and remodeling companies are busier than ever!

More people are bartering and trading for goods and services, communities are being formed, people are networking and being more creative in attaining what they need.

Our money and energy is being redistributed, our community is being transformed...it's painful at first, just as any birth...but will be seen as a blessing one day.

Do you have a one line mantra, phrase or prayer you can share?

Thank you Divine Source for the love, abundance, good health and joy that flow to me and through me each day.

What three steps do you recommend?
1. Don't buy into the fear.
2. Learn to Ask, believe, and receive.
3. Maintain an attitude of gratitude.

Thank you, Harusami for your contribution to making the world a more peaceful and loving home for us all.

Until next time,
Bliss & Blessings to all,
