Illegal immigrants legalization reform on the agenda again?
Although Obama is still pushing through Congress to complete legislation on a variety of programs, he had slowed down on advocating the changes he wants in the immigration system, including legalizing the status of an estimate 11 million illegal immigrants.
Although immigration was supposed be on the Obama's agenda already , he has been preoccupied with such things as getting his war spending bill through Congress. But now, immigration advocates are putting pressure on him to move forward on making the changes he promised during the presidential campaign.
That is when he promised the Latino community to push for an overhaul that included legalization of illegals. Now if Obama doesn't keep that promise, there could be a backlash from that community.
In 2008, 724,000 illegal immigrants were stopped from crossing into the United States over the Mexican border. This has slowed down as the recession took a tighter hold on the U.S. and fewer jobs were available.
